MTV Tackles ‘Sexting’ Epidemic
February 5th, 2010 by Rosemina Nazarali
As a means to raise awareness about the dangers of sexting, Music Television (MTV) is premiering a documentary special titled ‘Sexting in America: When Privates Go Public’ this upcoming Valentine’s Day. As part of their ‘A Thin Line Campaign’ which tackles digital abuse, MTV is hoping to make teens and tweens alike more aware of the repercussions of sending sexually explicit texts.
A line up of young celebrities like rapper Asher Roth and actress Michelle Trachtenberg will be involved, and will also begin hosting online quizzes next week in preparation of the MTV special. ‘Sexting in America’ will also take a look at a few real-life and celebrity examples of sexting gone wrong including one girl named Ally who found herself in a downward spiral after sexting her ex-boyfriend.
This MTV documentary is a great way for parents to open up the lines of communication with their kids. To learn more about sexting and the possible dangers behind it, check out the ‘All About Sexting‘ video here. If asked, make sure you enter to the US site to view it.
‘Sexting in America: When Privates Go Public’ is set to air on MTV on February 14th at 9pm. Visit A Thin Line (http://www.athinline.org) for more information.
